I broke down and got the GL1800
I finally broke down and traded in my GL1500 for a new 1800. I didn\'t even test-drive one, just took delivery right out of the crate.I\'ve been watching for a \"good deal\" and knew that the local Honda shop had a red 2003 model in their warehouse - now a year out of date, but far enough along in the model life that the teething problems of the 2001 and 2002 years were fixed according to John, their mechanic.

The picture shows it with one of my customer\'s computers on it - proving that I really do use it for business which is why it is \"tax deductable\" I\'m going to have to spring for the luggage rack/spoiler with the extra brake light. I saw one at the Toy Run last weekend (Oct 3, 2004)
with the road-pegs I want too.The ride is so different from the 1500 that it is hard to say they are even related. The three major things that make my day are the lower center of gravity, the stiffer frame and the instant roll-on of power from the fuel-injected engine. No hesitation so no fear of getting over too far and not being able to power out on tight, slow corners for example.
The other great thing about the new bike is the horn! I almost scared some idiot off the road when he tried to cut me off. Fantastic!
I\'ve already got more than 3000km on it and it is just over a month old. Lots of commutes to customers but also a couple of trips up the Fraser Valley and one over to Vancouver Island to visit family. The weather cooperated greatly.
Here\'s some more Toy Run pics:
