Beware - February 3rd may be disaster!
According to the Internet Storm Center, there are in excess of 500,000
Windows computers infected with the "Grew" worm (also known as the Nyxem
worm and a couple of other names)
On February 3rd (and each 3rd of the month after I understand) it will overwrite or delete all documents such as Word, Excel and others ending with DOC, XLS, MDE, MDB, PPT, PPS, RAR, PDF, PSD, DMP, ZIP extensions, placing garbage like "DATA Error [47 0F 94 93 F4 K5]" in them instead.
Please see their (SANS) warning at: http://isc.sans.org/diary.php?storyid=1067&rss
And update your anti-virus detection information to today's latest versions.
Note that the worm will attack network drive information too, not just the files on your computer. Make sure you have backups of files on other media - on CDs or DVDs or on a computer not connected to the network (and obviously not infected with the worm)
