Being an Eagleholic
Hi, my name is Richard and I'm an eagleholic
I started out a couple of months ago while I was digitizing some tapes from last year. The 13 hours simply wasn't enough so I found myself watching them over and over again.
Eagle Nest Live - the greatest thing since watching paint dry :)
Then we got the live feed going. I watched them adding the new wing on the East side; him bringing in the branches and her grabbing and placing them.
I suffered through the initial problems with the feed - trying to decide whether I should disturb Doug to get him to reboot many times a day. Some days I just had to call him as often as necessary - I'm sorry Doug!!!
I watched in anguish while the nest was bare - would they come back from feeding? Would I see the eggs laid? Were there going to be any eggs?????
Then suddenly there was an egg and I'd missed it!!! We'd missed it. I was heartbroken!
And I missed the second laying too! I was devastated.
Now I'm glued to my screen just in case I miss the hatching. I don't care if it IS supposed to be in 2+ weeks, they could be early! I'm not going to miss it!
I even find myself watching the replays far into the night just in case I missed something earlier (did you hear that flicker yelling in the background just now? I missed that this morning - what a treat!
OK - so I've admitted I'm addicted. I don't even want to know what step 2 is - just let me watch!
